Art meets Camera present a solo show by South African artist Nobukho Nqaba at AKAA (Also Known As Africa) Art Fair- the first contemporary African art fair to take place in Paris, France. (11-13 November 2016)<\/p>\n
Following her hugely successful series Umaskhenkethe<\/em>, <\/span>Nqaba\u2019s new body of work, Ndiyayekelela <\/span>(Letting go<\/span>)<\/em> embodies the artist\u2019s struggle to come to terms with the loss of her father. Using symbolic materials that recall her past, Nqaba battles with feelings of guilt, anger, satisfaction and confusion, reinforcing her physical presence. The artist\u2019s movements – together with the carefully selected materials – conjure up old memories, bringing them to life through photography.<\/p>\n In addition to her solo exhibition, Nqaba will present a performance piece in collaboration with fellow South African artist, Siwa Mgoboza<\/strong>. Sobabini <\/span>(Both of us)<\/em> plays out as an extension of her new work, and explores evolving African narratives, visions and voices. The performance will take place at the Carreau du Temple, Paris, France on 12 November 2016 at 1pm.<\/p>\n .<\/p>\n N<\/span>obukho Nqaba<\/strong> graduated from the Michaelis school of Fine Art (Cape Town, South Africa) and was the 2012 Tierney Fellowship <\/span>recipient. In 2015 she was one of only two photographers from Africa selected for reGeneration3 <\/span>– a travelling exhibition and publication.
